The third round of the „Chess Ladies“ in Graz shows fighting chess at its best. All five matches produce a winner. There is now a trio at the top of the table, each with 2.5 points from three games: Anastasia Bodnaruk, Jasmin-Denise Schloffer and Deimante Daulyte-Cornette.
Daulyte-Cornette, who was born in Lithuania and lives in France, won an important black game against the Italian Marina Brunello in the battle to win the tournament. Elo favourite Ekaterina Atalik, the Russian Anastasia Bodnaruk, who plays under the FIDE flag, and Lilit Mkrtchian beat the Austrians Nikola Mayrhuber, Annika Fröwis and Denise Trippold.
From a domestic perspective, Jasmin-Denise Schloffer’s run is pleasing. The Styrian won her second match against Chiara Polterauer and is now part of the top trio. Tomorrow, Wednesday, a double round will be played at 10:00 and 16:00. At 10:00 Schloffer will face Bodnaruk with Black. (wk, Photos: Mario Schachinger)
